Customer Groups & B2B Pricing
Wholesale, VIP & Trade
Last updated: July 3, 2026
Customer groups let you offer wholesale, VIP, or trade pricing and perks to specific customers. Assign a customer to a group and the group's benefits apply automatically whenever they're signed in.
Creating a Group #
Go to Admin → Sales → Customer Groups → Create and set any of:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Catalog discount % | A percentage off the catalog applied to the group's orders |
| Tax exempt | Removes tax at checkout for the group (e.g. resale/wholesale) |
| Always free shipping | Waives the shipping fee for members regardless of the usual threshold |
| Payment terms (net days) | Records net-30 (etc.) terms — pairs with invoice/manual orders |
Then assign customers to the group on the customer record (Admin → Sales → Customers).
How the Discount Applies #
When a group member is signed in, STOAR resolves their group automatically and applies the catalog discount during pricing. The group discount is compared against any coupon or automatic cart-rule discount and the best single discount wins — they do not stack. Group tax-exemption and free-shipping perks apply on top.
Prices are reduced at the cart and checkout; the group discount appears as the order's discount line.
Net Terms & Manual Orders #
For trade customers paying on account, combine a group's net-terms setting with Create Order (manual/draft orders) using the Invoice payment method — STOAR creates a pending order and can email the customer their payment link.
Notes #
- Group benefits apply only to signed-in customers; guests get standard pricing.
- Pricing is a catalog-wide percentage in this version (per-product price lists are a future enhancement).
- POS sales are for walk-in customers and do not apply a customer group.
